Raglan Cardigan

The pattern for this raglan cardigan was calculated according to The Incredible, Custom-fit Raglan Sweater instructions (by Pamela Costello) with the following measurements:

  • neck size 15"
  • raglan length 10.5"
  • body length 10" (+ 1.5" ribbing)
  • sleeve length 14" (+ 1" ribbing)
  • wrist size 7.5"
  • body circumference after decreases 40" (not needed in calculating the instructions)

Using Novita Samarkand bouclé yarn (cream #8669, beige #8677), the gauge was 15 sts x 23 rnds = 4". The number of stitches needed for casting on was:

  • total neck stitches: 60
  • back stitches: 14
  • sleeve stitches: 3
  • increase stitches: 8
  • front stitches: 32
  • right front stitches: 8
  • left front stitches: 8
  • center front stitches: 16

Stripe pattern:

  1. 2 rnds with MC (cream)
  2. 2 rnds with CC (beige)
  3. 4 rnds with MC
  4. 2 rnds with CC
  5. 2 rnds with MC
  6. 4 rnds with CC; repeat steps 1 through 6.

Decrease under both arms 2 sts on every 4th row 6 times (= 154 sts in body). Sleeve decreases: decrease 1 st at each end of every 4th row 20 times (= 32 sts in wrist). Collar band height was 1.5" and button band 1".

Warm Winter Mittens

Knitted with bulky yarn using an extra thick stitch, these mittens are extremely warm. Knitted with Novita 7 Veljestä Isoveli (7 Bröder Chunky).
