Just a quick update on what's on my needles -- and hooks -- these days.
I just know I'll have a super crappy and busy week next week cooped up in a classroom so I had to cast on these Rainy Day Socks as comfort knitting. We had *one* rainy day last week but after that it's been nothing but gorgeous, sunny spring days. On that socky note, I've considered joining in the Summer of Socks 2007 but haven't signed up yet cause I'm such a procastinator.
Other projects, from left to right: cable purse from DROPS, toe-up toe socks that are totally suffering from the dreaded Second Sock Syndrome, and an amigurumi bunny in the softest bamboo blend yarn. I've also done some dye experiments with food dyes and expect to have that section up and running sometime next week.
What else is new? The Aran sweater in cotton for my bf has been officially demoted to a UFO since I haven't worked on it in a looong while. Ditto for the lily filet table runner. I ran out of that yarn ages ago, lost the ball band, then re-discovered the ball band but haven't been able to find the same brand of yarn again. Also new: more informative titles for the yearly finished object galleries (right there <-- on the left sidebar).

For a while now, I've had the desire to make knitted monkeys. There are a couple of great monkey patterns online, like Mr. Dangly or Tucker the Monkey. In Kath Dalmeny's World of Knitted Toys, there are three species of primates, and I have a small amount of burnt orange yarn in my stash that'd make a great orangutan.
But then I saw puchitomato's crocheted amigurumi tropical monkeys and I just had to make one (and I'm not alone). The pattern is my own concoction with some heavy reverse engineering based on the pics.
