Hourglass

In September/October, I was a test knitter! I got a chance to test German designer Jutta von Hinterm Stein’s new cardigan, Hourglass. It wasn’t until I received the pattern that I realized it was knit sideways. Ingenious shaping with short rows to form the V-neck, waist shaping and armholes.

 
 I had a few issues with the sizing, though, but that was all my fault. I was, shall we say optimistic, with my gauge swatch. I had to block the body piece to within an inch of its life and still it wasn’t been enough to get the cardigan closed at the front. In the end, I had to add extra lace repeats (eyelet rows) before binding off at the front bands. Great test knitting, huh?
