I’ve been test knitting again. This cabled cardigan was designed by Sarah Cooke. I fell in love with her project photo but what really drew me in was the cable design in the back. I had the perfect, unattached yarn in stash so there was nothing to stop me from casting on.
The cardigan is knit seamlessly from the top down. It’s started at the back neck with a provisional cast on. After the back piece, stitches for the fronts are picked up from the provisional cast-on edge and knitted downwards. Set-in sleeves are also worked top down, with stitches picked up from the armhole and the sleeve caps shaped with short rows. In one word: genius!
