First FO of 2013

First FO of 2013: Clintonia socks.

Mods

The original pattern is for short house socks or slippers but I wanted more socky socks. Here’s the mods I did:

  • Cast on 6 sts using the Turkish cast-on. Increased 2 sts on each side every other row to 19 sts per needle (= 38 sts total).

  • Did a garter-stitch short-row heel, not picking up the w&t’s.

  • Did three pattern repeats in the foot, five repeats in the leg with K3, P3 ribbing in the back, ending with about 7 cm of ribbing all around.

I haven’t knitted much socks since the Great Sock Burnout of 2007-2008. Apparently I’m cured since there’s another pair of socks on the needles… I haven't done a mystery sock in a while, let alone colorwork socks.
