A Pair of Stripes

Writer's picture: SusannaSusanna

Stripes have completely overtaken me this spring, especially stripy socks.

  • On Ravelry: Big Jumps

  • Pattern: Stashbuster Spirals by Janine Hempy, modified for worsted-weight yarn and four stripes

  • Heel according to Widdershins Revisited from K2Knits – this is my go-to heel construction for toe-up socks

  • Yarn: three colors of worsted-weight nylon-reinforced sock yarn from a local harvest fair (undyed Kainuu Grey, undyed Kainuu Black, and redwood dyed), 304 yards/278 m in total

  • Needles: 3.75 mm for stockinette, 3.0 mm for ribbing

The spiral or helix striping creates one-row stripes with no visible jogs! Fascinating – I’m completely hooked in this method and have two more socks on the needles using the same technique.
