Deep Pockets

Last summer, I ran into this tunic/dress pattern in a Finnish sewing magazine. I loved the big side pockets… and then changed just about everything else.

  • Sleeves: The original had wide ¾-length sleeves that had elastic at the cuff. I made them full length and narrower.

  • Hem: The original women’s size hem went below knees. I preferred the look of the girl’s tunic and shortened the hem by 10 cm.

  • Neckline: The original was a deep V – I made a higher, round neckline.

Even when sewing I’m a knitter at heart, so when PaaPii Design released their Linnea Knits jersey, I had to get some.

  • On Textillia: Deep Pockets in Paisley & Linnea Knits

  • Pattern: Dress #1 from Suuri Käsityö 08/2009

  • Size: 32

  • Fabric: single jersey, about 1.5 m

  • Notions: sewing thread, Framilon elastic
