Pick It Up

Here’s another cardigan with a non-traditional construction. pick, pick, pick it up! by Meghan Munro starts with the sleeves – you knit a long tube from cuff to cuff that runs across the back. You then pick up stitches for the body and knit down.

I got the yarn, five balls of Gedifra Riana, in a Ravelry destash and then ordered some more because I thought it wouldn’t be enough. Turns out I was wrong. If knitted as the original – elbow-length sleeves, open-front, narrow front band – I could’ve gotten away with less than 600 yards. That’s only four balls knitted up in the photos! But since I now have plenty, I’m going for full-length sleeves and wide front bands that meet at the middle.
